Danny Groenland - The Sugarclub, Dublin - May 9th, 2025

Back in the Sugar Club tonight for the launch of Burning Rome, the third album from the brilliant Danny Groenland (you might remember his as Danny G and the Major 7ths).

The night kicked off with a 5 minute clip of David Attenborough talking about the real danger facing us, Climate Change, which will, ultimately, lead to war, famine and drought, unless something is done soon...  A sombre, but fascinating start to the night.

Over the course of the night, Danny was joined by the multi talented Holly Pereira and Talha Alali for a couple of duets and Talha gave a brief talk on Palestine, the current situation and how it affects him and his family.  It's a tough listen, but important to hear.

Anyway... Tahla got the crowd up on their feet dancing and that was it, they never returned to their seats all night.  It was party time and people were here to dance!

The album is currently available for purchase through Bandcamp, and, from what I have heard of it, it sounds fantastic.  I'd recommend buying a copy!

Support on the night was from Meghan Murray, accompanied by Kimberley Herlihy.

Now for some photos:

Greatest goalkeeper never to play for Ireland at any level. A failed rock star. Now I take pretty pictures of Rock n' Roll, Burlesque and Political Activism.
