It's months since I was out in Naas for a gig, I think the last one was an In the Round night with Sive, Pete Kavanagh and Philip Scott, in the Moat Theatre in February!
Earlier this year, Dubh Lee released my favourite track of the year, My Poor Boy, as a single, so, when I saw she was playing in Facchino's in Naas, I thought I'd pop down, check out Facchino's and catch her gig at the same time!
So, was the gig any good? Well, of course it was, sure it always is with her! She has a way of captivating an audience. Her voice has a smoky tone to it, adding a bit more edge to her songs, its hard not to like it. As for the set, it was a mix of old classics and her own work. It didnt really matter what she sang though, the audience enjoyed it all!
As for the venue, it's a beautiful spot. The food looks great, the courtyard is surrounded on three sides by ivy clad walls, which makes for a great backdrop, and, probably more importantly, masks any noise from the town!
Hopefully, this will be the start of many gigs in Facchino's! Now for a few photos:
