Duffy's Circus - Naas Racecourse - 30th March, 2025

I hadn't been to the circus since 2016 and that time was only because it was part of an awards ceremony I'd been invited along to.  So, when the annual "what the hell do I get my mam for Mother's Day" conundrum arose, I had a moment of inspiration, Duffys Circus was in town, I'd buy a couple of front row seats and we'd head to the circus!

I could write here about the virtues of spending time with your elderly parents, or the importance of making memories with them, but I won't you already know that, don't you?  All I'll say is that it's important to make memories with them, go do things together, enjoy life with them.  That's what this trip to the circus was all about.

So, how was the circus? It was one of the most entertaining days out I've had in a long time.  The smell of popcorn in the air as soon as you enter the tent, the buzz around the place.  The excited kids screaming...  It's kida magical!

Also, there are so many similarities with many of the performers I see in the burlesque and cabaret world, I was in my element from the get go!  I did wonder about my mam.  Would she be comfortable and warm?  Would the flashing lights and loud music annoy her?  She took it all in her stride and seemed to love the show.

So, would I recommend going to Duffys Circus?  Absolutely I would, and plans are afoot to visit again later in the year!

Roll on Mother's Day 2026!
