I can't think of a better way to kick off the Christmas madness, than going to see King Kong Company live. So, on Friday night, that's exactly what I did! I packed my camera gear and headed to the Academy, Dublin.
I like the Academy, but I don't get to shoot there all that often, in fact, the last was almost a year ago, and that was for Me First and the Gimme Gimmes.
Anyway, I digress. Opening proceedings on the night was Waterford native, Peter Vogelaar. I'd heard his work online, but it was my first time catching him live. I'm not quite sure how to describe his music, but it kinda gets into you, soaks into your bones, and whilst not as frantic or manic as KKC, it makes you want to dance. More of it please!
King Kong Company took to the stage, and for the next 90 minutes, the Academy danced their arses off, me included! As has been the case for the last few years, Limericks finest, Bobby Fingers, joins KKC on stage at various times. Songs like Wrecked with God, Donkey Jaw and The Machine brought a whole new level of mania to the crowd!
And then that was it. It was all over with and I'm heading home, ears ringing, smiling like I just got laid, wondering how ling it will be till this happens again!
Roll on festival season. Now for some photos:
