All That Glitters - McHugh's Venue, Drogheda - December 13th, 2025

Setting up your own cabaret show is always a risk—mainly to the finances, but also to your self-esteem. Venues need to be hired, performers need to be booked, someone has to come up with an advertising campaign… and all this before a single ticket is sold! Speaking of tickets, you hope you’ll sell out, but you pray that you’ll at least cover costs.

I think it’s safe to say, now that All That Glitters Cabaret has just completed its third show and announced its fourth (Valentine’s Day 2026), that the cabaret is a success. It’s attracting some of the best burlesque, pole, drag and cabaret performers in the country, and tonight was no different.

Hosted by the brilliant Dick von Dyke, with a cast including Leela Baron, Ruby Noir, Upsadbhdown, Sparkling Spitfire, Blaq Coffee, Bella Curve, and of course the boss herself, Daria Décolletté, we were absolutely spoiled for entertainment. As is the norm, everything was kept classy. Yes, there were bums on display, and yes, boobs may have popped out here and there—but it was all tasteful, always accessorised with nipple tassels and pasties. No free slips here, my friends—none at all!

The show is split into two halves, with a well-needed break in between. It gets hot in that room, so thankfully there’s a well-stocked bar to keep both audience members and performers hydrated. Each performer has a routine on either side of the break, and the second half of the show is usually a more… vocal affair, what with the extra gin, wine, or beer taken on board.

Highlights? Honestly, the whole show is one highlight from start to finish, but I do have a new love for balloons now. I didn’t see that coming. I also got to see Upsadbhdown perform for the first time, which was a real treat.

Right, I’m beginning to waffle now. So—Valentine’s Day 2026 is the next show, and if you’re anything like me and single, you probably have no plans at all. Well, now you do. Go book a ticket.

And now, some photos:

Greatest goalkeeper never to play for Ireland at any level. A failed rock star. Now I take pretty pictures of Rock n' Roll, Burlesque and Political Activism.
