Every now and again, I get a new follower on Instagram, and my bat senses start to tingle. Such was the case when Harlekino Kollektiv dropped me a follow! I did the obvious thing, I messaged them! It turns out that I'd photographed them previously, and they were producing a new show called Antika.
Well now, I'm a sucker for something new, and this promised to bring something exciting to the already bubbling Dublin burlesque and cabaret scene. There would be two parts, a show and a club night, all inspired by the producers experience of Berlin heady club nights.
Well, after hearing all that, I was in! It sounded right up my street.
Club night came, the Sugarclub, as always, was doing their best to make sure lights and sound were on point, performers were running around making sure they knew exactly what was going to happen. Me? I sat my arse in a seat and wondered what they hell was going to happen and how was I going to shoot this,
I needn't have stressed... Once it kicked off, I got into my flow and, I think, took some of my favourite shots of the year. Then, as the show wrapped up and the clubnight kicked off, I switched cameras and started taking photos of the punters. It's not something I normally do, but everyone was dressed up and in the mood to have their photo taken. Who was I to deny them?
Anyway, I've waxed lyrically enough. It was a fantastic night and I'm looking forward to seeking what the Harlekino Kollektiv come up with next!
Now for some photos:
