I can’t quite remember when I first came across Bad Cop / Bad Cop, but Fat Wreck Chords had been kindly sending me PR copies of their latest releases for years, and I was really enjoying them.
Back in 2023, Bad Cop / Bad Cop were due to gig in Ireland. I’d bought my ticket and was eagerly awaiting the show. Unfortunately, for one reason or another, it was cancelled. So you can imagine my delight when I found out they were playing with Spike and the Gimme Gimmes in Opium, Dublin, as part of their Operation: Ho Ho Ho European tour!
Their set was fast—how fast? Well, fast enough to leave me with a neck ache the next day, that’s how fast! In between bopping along to the music, I was trying to get some photos. Unfortunately, someone, somewhere, decided to keep the light levels crazily low, and I get the feeling it wasn’t the band’s decision. I did manage to get some shots—make of them what you will!
Bad lighting aside, Bad Cop / Bad Cop were fantastic, and I’d love to see them come back and headline here, maybe in a bigger, brighter venue. Post-gig, I did get to chat briefly with the band, and I’d be lying if I said I didn’t fanboy just a bit!
