It's taken me a while to write this... Lots going on in my personal life that took precedence, then I got busy at other shows, then blah blah blah... No more excuses, here's my very brief EP roundup.
The plan was to spend the weekend at Electric Picnic with the Dirty Circus, but the best-laid plans of mice and men go awry... The weather was, well, it wasn't great, but then, at EP, is it ever?
I spent Saturday with the Dirty Circus, snapping photos of everyone and anyone. No one was safe! We had pole dancers, drag queens, sideshow performers, the odd band or two. It was a great day, apart from the weather...
Wet weather leads to muddy fields, and muddy fields lead to slips and slides. My back is fucked already and, well, it couldn't cope with all the instability and packed in.
I eventually made it back to the safety of my van late on Saturday night, and I was in pain. I did manage to get a decent night's sleep, but when I woke at 10:00am, the pain was real, and my legs took a long time to get going. I made the decision that if things weren't better after breakfast, I'd pack up shop and head for home.
And, well, you guessed it. Things didn't get better, so I hit the road.
Am I getting too old and fragile for EP? Perhaps. Will this be my last EP? Perhaps. We'll revisit this in July next year and see how the body is.
