2019-12-28 HamsandwicH - St. Davids Church Naas

Just a few photos of the brilliant HamsandwicH playing St. Davids in Naas over the Christmas.  I#d write more, but I'm tired and all you need to know is that they were incredible.  Go see them live in 2020! Support on the night was from Amy Dillon . Keep an eye out for her in 2020 also. Check out the photos below: HamsandwicH Amy Dillon

2019-12-27 Paddy Casey - Whelans Dublin

Is it truly Christmas if you don't go see Paddy Casey in Whelans?  I don't think it is, so I went and a great night was had by all! Check out the photos below:

Instagram Stories - Part 5

50 of these now... Was it really 50 days ago I started posting these on my Instagram Story ? Anyway, I still haven't repeated an artist yet. Those I have featured are all excellent artists at varying different stages of their careers. All are worth checking out. Check out the Spotify Playlist that goes with the images, then go buy the music! More to come over the next few weeks! 2019-12-21 Peco and Tod Dolye - Ryarc Rathangan

Two fellow Kildare natives, Peco McLoughlin and Tod Doyle , decided to put on a double header gig in Rathangan just at the start of the Christmas break, and what a way to start the holidays it was! I've seen Peco play quite a few times now and always enjoy his sets.  The only time I'd seen Tod play was when he played drums with Peco, so I was unsure of what to expect.  I needn't have worried!  They both did a 20 minute set each, then combined for a final 30 minute set and the place was hopping, to say the least! Anyway, if you get a chance, check them both out on Spotify, buy their CDs and go see them live! Check out the photos below:

2019-12-20 Tracy Gallagher - Workmans Club Dublin

I first met Tracy Gallagher when she supported Peco back in November 2018 at a gig in Rathangan and through Twitter and Instagram, we kept it touch. A month or so back, she invited me along to the launch of her single ' Paper Dolls ' in the Workmans Club , so obviously I headed along. A superb night of music was had with Tracy and band sounding in great form! Support on the night was from Jane Willow and Grainne Hunt . Check out all three artists, they're all slightly different in styles, but are all fantastic. Check out the photos below: Tracy Gallagher Jane Willow Grainne Hunt

2019-12-07 Grandmaster Flash - Fairfield Halls Croydon

When you get a chance to see a legend perform, I think it'd be rude not to take it.  That was the case with Grandmaster Flash ! The guy is an absolute legend of hip-hop, he was in London, I was in London, so why the hell not! The gig itself wasn't great.  That wasn't his fault, he was fantastic on the decks, it was just the atmosphere there, it felt like a bad staff party... Too many people intent on getting hammered and the actual hall it was in was just too clinical, no charm, no style, just a big, empty room with a small stage at the far end. Anyway, it was great to see Grandmaster Flash perform, I don't get many chances to see someone of his standing do their thing, I just wish it had been in some hot, sweaty, intimate venue in Dublin. Check out the photos and video below:

Instagram Stories - Part 4

These Instagram Stories seem to have taken on a life of their own and are going down well with the artists featured, so I'll keep doing them! I also put together the IrishMJ Instagram Stories Playlist  on Spotify to go hand in hand with the images. You can click on the link above or check out the embedded player on the right hand side of the page. If you like the music, you might just consider buying their music!
