What's De Craic Festival - Maynooth - May 31st, 2025

Festival time again, and as always, we are kicking off with  What's De Craic in North Kildare Sports Club.

This years festicval wasn't as heavy on the country scene as last years, it was more a pure Irish music affair with Danny Carthy, Zak Moran, Róisín Dubh, the Dublin City Ramblers and the Whistlin' Donkeys headlining on the Saturday.

Sundays lineup was equally as good with the likes of Sean McGee, Katelin Tierney, The Finns, George Murphy & The Rising Sons and the Tumbling Paddies rocking the stage.

This is not Glastonbury, it's not Electric Picnic, none of the 2cool kids" will be raving about it, but they should!  Why?  Because it is two days of good craic.  Everyone is intent on having a good time.  No one is in a K Hole in the corner.  There are no fights breaking out over slights to egos.  It's just good fun.  It also helped that the weather played ball...

There's plenty to eat, plenty to drink, no major queues for the loos, plenty of parking on site, you can even bring your Camper, and many folk did!

It's a festival run by people who love their music, and the goal is to fund their sports clubs, rather than line the pockets of people who see music as a way to fleece the public.  That's got to be admirable.

Anyway, What's the Craic 2026, you should go, you will have the craic!

Now for some photos in no particular order:

Greatest goalkeeper never to play for Ireland at any level. A failed rock star. Now I take pretty pictures of Rock n' Roll, Burlesque and Political Activism.
