It's been a while...
My last shoot, before this one, was seven weeks ago. A lot has changed in my life since then, and I just couldn't bring myself to pick up my camera. But life goes on, it always does.
So this morning, I headed to Lough Boora in County Offaly for the latest Megashoot.
Lough Boora is an ancient peatland that has been transformed into a huge public park, featuring an outdoor sculpture park, 50km of walking and cycling trails, a fairy trail, and a Mesolithic archaeological site dating back to 6500 BC. In other words, it's a very interesting place to visit!
To make it even more interesting, I had four shoots lined up with Ivanka, Marianna, Seby and Martina. I'd like to say they all went to plan, but I'd be lying... a lot!
My first shoot, with Ivanka, didn't happen on time. I was late, she was late... Road closures and diversions due to Forest Fest were the culprits. So, while we didn't shoot when we were supposed to, we did find 20 minutes or so to grab some photos and, well, I think they look amazing!
My second shoot, with Marianna, went fantastically. I really enjoyed it. She was fun, easy to work with and, I think, we both came away happy. Did I leave some props at home? Yes. Yes, I did. Thankfully, they weren't integral to the shoot, so we carried on without them. It was fantastic to come up with a plan for a shoot and have it turn out pretty much as I'd imagined.
My third shoot, with Seby, was the first time I'd photographed a male model. I think it's good to stretch yourself creatively and step outside your comfort zone. It's the only way to grow. So, hesitant though I was when Seby booked me, I'm delighted we got to do the shoot. Am I happy with the photos? Kind of. I think the edit could have been better, so I'll revisit them in the future and see how I can improve them. But the content and the poses? I love them!
My last shoot was with Martina. Unfortunately, it was a tad rushed, but hey, we cracked on and still got some lovely photos. Martina knew exactly what she wanted from the shoot and knew her best poses. I just followed her lead! You might notice that there aren't any photos of Martina in this post. She asked me to hold off for a while, but as soon as I get the okay, I'll update it.
So that was it. Lough Boora was a fantastic place to shoot. There were loads of different locations, plenty of fresh air, and more than enough space to work. It's definitely somewhere I'd love to visit again, with or without models!
