When you're a small, independent music photographer, not shooting for a magazine, many venues and events can pass you by... The Electric Picnic, Ireland's largest music festival, was one of those, or so I thought, and I was relatively okay with that.
Then, early in July, I got a message from The Dirty Circus asking if I'd like to join their team for the Picnic and shoot their various performances over the weekend. I didn't need to be asked twice!
I could go into depth here on preparations, like clearing out my van, converting it into a tiny camper, making sure I'd plenty of power to see me through the weekend and so on, but I won't. Basically, it all happened, it all worked out and I'd an incredible weekend.
Apart from shooting The Dirty Circus and Sideshow Dramas performances, I also got the chance to catch a few acts along the way, like Kynsy, Jack Lukeman, Post Punk Podge, Zoe Clarke, Mik Pyro and The Bonnevilles.
Was it a fun weekend? Without a doubt, but it was long and tiring and hard work, but I got to work with some great people and make some great memories, so I can't and won't complain!
The only thing to ask is, would I do it again, and the answer to that is a resounding yes!
Now for some photos:
