Over the years, the annual Busk at Christmas, in aid of the Dublin Simon Community, has attracted a veritable who's who in Irish music. On a Christmas Eve in Dublin, Glen Hansard manages to convince the likes of Bono, Sinead O'Connor, Hozier and many others, to donate their time and perform at the Busk.
How much does it cost to attend these start studded gigs outside the Gaiety Theatre in Dublin? Nothing. All you are asked to do is out your hands in your pocket and donate what you can. It's that simple.
For the first time since the Busk started, I had no plans, so I decided that I would head in to Dublin and experience it first hand and I'm so glad I did. On the night, we had performances by Glen Hansard, Shobsy, Imelda May, the Coronas, Dug, Dermot Kennedy, Liam Ó Maonlaí, and many more.
I'm not good at figures, but King Street was closed off for the duration of the gig and it was packed full of people. So, more than 100 and less than 100,000. Make of that what you will!
It seems crazy that we need charities such as the Dublin Simon Community to step into the breach and fill the gaps where Govt. have failed. Yet here we are... If you don't know what Dublin Simon Community do, well they provide services to over 7,600 people and families each year across Dublin, Kildare, Wicklow, Meath, Louth, Cavan and Monaghan who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.

Anyway, enough waffling, here are some photos I took from the crowd. Hope you like them and Happy Christmas to you all.
