I think the first time I saw Mark Geary live was back in 2015, at Groove Festival, in Bray. Coincidentally, Gráinne Hunt, who I just saw recently in the Riverbank Theatre in Newbridge, was performing with him!
Anhway, over the years, I've seen Mark perform on multiple occasions, and, if memory serves me well, I even brought someone to see him live on a first date. Believe it or not, that relationship lasted a long time, until it didn't...
Anyway, tonight, in Whelan's, Mark was in fine festive form playing almost 30 minutes over his scheduled time. As always, the stories between the songs are almost as fascinating ias the songs themselves! Also joining him onstage was Rebecca Geary of Sick Love, and it turns out that Mark is her uncle. I guess the surname should have been a giveaway!
Support on the night was from Waterfords finest, One Morning in August. Again, I've see them perform on multiple occasions, and they always put on a good show. I really should get down to Waterford to catch one of their headline shows in 2025.
Right, it's time for some photos:
