I can't help but feel that the Spirit of Brigid Festival, that takes place every year at the end of January, start of February, is missing a trick.
It's a Kildare festival, based around the legendary Goddess Brigid / Saint Brigid, and you would think it would highlight the best of the musical talent from around the county, but, in my opinion at least, it continually fails to do so.
But tonight, in Sallins, on top of a barge, we got to see two of the finest voices in the county, Megan O'Neill (joined by Mark Dudley and Cormac Curran for her set) and Grainne Hunt. The weather threatened to get messy, but the rain stayed away, even if the wind made a cool night even colder. It didn't seem to affect the crowd though and they certainly seemed to enjoy the performances.
